Saint Rocco is very popular in Toro.
And his devotion looks back to the past, to events such as the earthquake of the 26th of July, 1805 and the pestilence of 1656, that killed whole families.
St. Rocco's Church was built between the 16th and the 17th century on the rapille (a sandstone rock), outside the town walls for a devotional aim.

In the Summer of 1985 the Church was interested by a particular phenomenon: thanks to a play of lights and shadows reflected on the glazed niche, the population believed to see Jesus Christ.
For his part, the Archbishop of Campobasso, Pietro Santoro, told the population to believe without miracles.
Since then the phenomenon begun to diminish, but a "miracle" happened:
the descendents of Luigi Falcione, well-known entrepreneur of Campobasso, restored the old and decaying church at their expenses.
